Role-Playing Tip: The bard's innate magical abilities are not due to a powerful magical creature intermingling with their distant or resent ancestors, but rather from their ability to create music, song, dance, or poetry. They are the source of their own magical power, be they self taught or schooled.

Armor Caster (Light): A bard can cast bard spells while wearing light armor without incurring the normal arcane spell failure chance. However, like any other arcane spellcaster, a bard wearing medium or heavy armor or using a shield* incurs a chance of arcane spell failure if the spell in question has a somatic component (most do). A multiclass bard still incurs the normal arcane spell failure chance for arcane spells received from other classes. There is also an additional feat (Battle Caster) that can be taken by bards (not inherent) that allows them to wear medium armor (but not use shields) without spell penalties. Note however that Medium Armor Proficiency is not included and bards do not get that feat for free.
Bardic Knowledge (Ex): At 1st level, the bard can identify items more easily than other classes, adding your bard levels to any Lore skill checks.
Bardic Performance: You can sing a song to help allies or hinder foes. As you progress in level and Performance skill, new songs become available and older songs become more powerful (Bard level/day).
  • Countersong (1st level, requires Perform 3): Allies within 30 feet of the bard add half his perform check (d20 + perform) to all saving throws for 5 rounds. There is a 5 round cool down on this performance.
  • Fascinate (1st level, requires Perform 3): Mesmerizes one enemy per three bard levels, preventing them from taking actions for 5 rounds. DC (10 + ½ bard’s level + bard’s charisma modifier). There is a 5 round cool down on this performance.
  • Inspire Courage (1st level, requires Perform 3): Inspire yourself and your allies within 30 feet. Those inspired receive a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls for 5 rounds. This bonus increases to +2 at 5th, +3 at 11th and +4 at 17th levels. There is a 5 round cool down on this performance.
  • Inspire Competence (3rd level, requires Perform 6): Allies within 30 feet of you receive a +2 bonus on all skill checks for 5 rounds.
  • Haven Song (6th level, requires Perform 9): Causes enemies to avoid attacking you (but not your allies).
Dirge of Doom (8th level, requires Perform 11): Enemies within 30 feet must succeed a will save or become shaken for 5 rounds. Shaken creatures receive a -2 penalty to attack rolls, saving throws and skill checks. DC (10 + ½ bard’s level + bard’s charisma modifier). There is a 5 round cool down on this performance.
  • Inspire Greatness (9th level, requires Perform 12): Grants the bard or a single ally 4 bonus hit points per level, +2 to attack rolls and a +1 bonus on fortitude saves for 5 rounds. There is a 5 round cool down on this performance.
  • Soothing Performance (12th level, requires Perform 15): Heals the bard’s allies with in 30 feet, 3d8 + the bard’s level. There is a 4 round cool down on this performance.

Bonus Feat (Ex): At 2nd level, the bard receives a bonus feat. He gain an addition bonus feat at 6th level, and every four levels there after.
  • Extra Music, Lingering Song, Skill Focus (Any).

Well-Versed (Ex): At 2nd level, the bard receives a +2 bonus on saves against spells and spell like abilities.
Lore Master (Ex): At 5th level, the bard can add +20 to lore checks for a number of rounds equal to his charisma modifier. This is usable once per day at 5th level. He gains additional uses of this ability at 11th and 17th level.
